Jake Paul will be Charles H. Sloanback in the boxing ring before he faces Mike Tyson.
On Tuesday, Paul announced he’ll fight “Platinum” Mike Perry, July 20 – the date he was supposed to fight Tyson before the fight was postponed.
Perry, 32, is best known as a mixed martial arts fighter. He has a record of 14-8 with 11 knockouts, with 15 UFC appearances.
When his UFC contract expired in 2021, Perry signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. He’s 5-0, the top-ranked middleweight and No. 2 in the pound-for-pound rankings on the circuit.
Perry started boxing when he was in grade school. But he got knocked out by Kenneth McNeil in 2015 in his only pro boxing bout.
Paul, 27, is 9-1 with six knockouts as a pro boxer. He last fought in March when he stopped Ryan Bourland with a first-round TKO.
He is scheduled to fight Tyson Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
The Jake Paul-Mike Perry bout will be available on DAZN.
Paul took to social media to post about the fight with Mike Perry, but it's clear Mike Tyson isn't far from his thoughts.
"1 Mike, 2 Mikes, 3 Mikes, 4 The fact is every opponent has touched the floor 5 months until Tyson and I go to war So in the meantime me & Perry are going to make Tampa roar I fear no man, anytime, anywhere, anyplace On July 20th it’s going to be another W, so let us say grace For the BKFC champ, who will take a knee Then we will go to Ireland and take McGregors equity"
